Touristic information
Located in a strategic point of the Cadiz coast, in front of Gibraltar, Algeciras has one of the most important commercial, fishing and passenger ports of the country.
The city is framed in the Natural Park of Alcornocales (Cork Oak Forest), one of the most extensive in Andalusia, and one of the main points for the observation of birds and marine animals thanks to its proximity to Africa, the confluence of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic and the variety of landscapes generated by the climate.
The beaches are another of the main attractions of Algeciras. Rinconcillo Beach is the most famous and it is located in the interior of the bay, 3 kilometers from the city center. A little further away are San García beach and Ensenada de Getares.
Plaza Alta is the social center of the city, where you find the main monuments, like the Church of Our Lady of the Palm and the Chapel of Our Lady of Europe. The most important hotels, restaurants and shops are located in the surroundings of the Real Club Naútico, the commercial port of the city.
